May 2010

When asked, "What do you grow on the farm?" I find myself answering, "Kindness."
The fields are slowly being planted with the usual fare, more potatoes this year, more corn, and the lambs will soon be born. I am getting to spend more time with the mothers- to-be, caring for them, shearing with scissors in what I have dubbed the "corn for wool program," and delighting in the unique personalities of each.

The apple blossoms are three weeks early and the intoxicating fragrance cannot be ignored. With more people living here, there is more time to learn about the plants that are indigenous to this place and of course we are in the height of our morel mushroom season. The Kindness of the land envelops us.

Each person who arrives brings his or her own gifts, and the tapestry of shared knowledge continues to flourish. As for me I remain both amazed and determined. You could say I am most determined to stay amazed. I am determined to stay in the joy that I know is meant for me, for each of us. And I am committed to sharing this place with others who understand the power of Kindness, and are willing to explore the possibilities of manifesting peace instead of hardship — for a change.

To that end, we continue to offer classes in sustainable living and initiatives of peace. On Saturday, May 22, Echo Valley Hope will host Time for Peace and we invite you to come and explore the possibility of peace in your own life. For the majority of my life I have enjoyed the support and inspiration of Prem Rawat, or as I have known him, Maharaji. Throughout the day, you will be welcomed to view DVD presentations of his message of peace. Good music, great food and good company will fill the day.

On Saturday, June 5, Echo Valley Hope will sponsor a benefit concert for Haiti with a fabulous band from San Francisco, Blame Sally. Singer/Songwriter Vanessa will open. Click here for a flyer to share with your friends.

The Kindness continues, and you are welcome.

BENEFIT FOR HAITIAN RELIEF
with Blame Sally
June 5

A unique collective of four distinct voices and musical backgrounds, Blame Sally has forged a compelling and original sound that has earned the band the well-deserved reputation as "Bay Area phenomenon." Recently signing a five year mid-six figure record deal, the band's spirited, take-no-prisoners attitude is a welcome contrast to traditional folk, and the band has the songs, chops and pipes to back up their toughtalking, clear-minded folk rock.

Visit www.blamesally.com for more.

Donations will go to the TPRF Humanitarian Aid Fund for Haiti.
