March 2013

In the cold of winter, we yearn for spring. We anticipate her arrival. We ready. We plan and we engage in germinating seeds. We do all that we can in order to support the advent of the growing season and to make the most of the time we are given.

In the same way, those who yearn for peace, those who understand the possibility, prepare.

Members of Echo Valley Hope's Board of Directors and Echo Valley Farm participated in "Time for Peace," a WOPG Peace Initiative held in Miami this past weekend.

The message of Prem Rawat that peace can be felt is fundamental to our efforts. We are committed to the possibility of peace, for each individual and for our world. Come enjoy our efforts, events and celebrations. Your support and help are always welcomed.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. - Aristotle

We live in an age when our ability to transmit communication often overrides the intentions behind communication. When sound bites can build or destroy a movement, an idea, a life. We have been taught and we identify with the concept of might is right and we prepare for battle at every turn.

But what if activism were based in our humanity, rather than ideology? What if we could see beyond “us and them”? What if there is no 99%?

It is incumbent on those who are waging war against human and environmental injustice to stop and consider the positive alternative: waging peace. There is no short cut in this endeavor. Peace begins with me. The first battles must be won within me if I am to bring about the good I seek in the world around me.

With this understanding as our foundation, Echo Valley will offer weekends dedicated to the efforts towards social and environmental justice. Everyone interested in nonviolent change is welcome. Let this be a time to recharge, refocus and reconsider peace. Let it be a time when we can help one another.

The schedules are adaptable. If you have something you would like to share, you are welcome. This is a time for us to align, to dream, to ready for action – and to act.
