MARCH 2014

GARDEN DREAMING

Garden Collage

Knowing spring will come guides the gardener through the end of a harsh winter. On sunny days you can feel it coming. For the impatient and energetic among us, seeds can be readied indoors long before the melt.

Babysitting tiny plants gives way to hope and before you know it, it is time to play in the dirt.

Winter unhand us, we are dreaming of spring.

Come and dream with us, sharing seeds and swapping garden tips.

March 1, Garden Dreaming and Seed Sharing
Free event with Rueben Yoder of Ross Seeds from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Enjoy a delicious lunch for a suggested contribution of $5.

And if you cannot make it, here is a short on how and why to save seeds: Click here for slideshow.

WOMEN'S RESOURCE FAIR
March 14 and 15 in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Saturday at noon, come and hear Walk the Earth Dearly, a talk by Dena Eakles.

RISING ABOVE PRIVILEGE

Privilege: a special advantage, immunity, permission, right or benefit granted to or enjoyed by an individual class or caste...to the exclusion or detriment of others
- American Heritage Dictionary

We have inherited a system of privilege which is not, nor ever has been, a true reflection of our humanity. Our privilege is to be alive and to enjoy the fruits of the earth, fresh air and clean water, and to enjoy the earth's beauty and the uniqueness of one other.

It is not our right to abuse these privileges with greed, destruction of the earth or her people nor the degradation of life in any way. In celebrating our humanity the false systems of privilege will decline and disappear.

To those who struggle to overcome the injustice of false privilege:
Do not give up. Remember who you are.

The 15th White Privilege Conference
March 26 - 29, 2014 in Madison Wis.
Visit www.whiteprivilegeconference.com for more information.

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
- Edith Wharton

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
