I know many of my
friends are shy of winter. Okay, some despise it. But I have come to
deeply appreciate the solitude and quiet, the opportunity given by
short days and long nights for reflection and most importantly the
telling of stories and the chance to dream of the upcoming year.
Winter lends itself
to dreaming, and here at Echo Valley we work hard to make our dreams
reality. Once again in 2015 we welcome you to work towards a peaceful
and sustainable world and to participate in our monthly peacemaker
gatherings. Our outdoor concerts will continue, as will our efforts in
sustainability. Making a masonry stove, an underground greenhouse and a
drying shed are all on our wish list for the upcoming year.
We will celebrate Peace First and Ending War –
within and around us – and we welcome you to post your activities
We will continue to
“grow our souls,” celebrating and cutting a path for all the good that
is possible. To urge us on, look forward to our 2015 showings and
discussions of American
Revolutionary: The Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs.
Most importantly, we
will appreciate the joy and the laughter, the struggles and the
victories that will surely come. And you are welcome!
WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE SMILING?
They are helping to
plan Peace Week Milwaukee - 2015, a
celebration of peace and sustainability. All organizations, faiths and
businesses are welcome to host an event towards peace and
sustainability during the week of August 16 through 23. Choose the type
of event you want to offer: music, art, panel discussions and guest
speakers are a few possibilities…and of course great food. This will be
an opportunity to learn about each other’s efforts and to raise the
voice of peace. We are currently welcoming art that depicts this
What does peace in Milwaukee look like?
Chosen submissions will help us get the word out about Peace Week, and
will be highlighted with all participating organizations on our website
