We weathered the flood with only a bit of road damage. Ontario took a
heavy hit, and the increasing number of floods over the past decade
leaves one wondering if this is the new norm.
Our new well will be running by week’s end. And we are making a way for
Margaret’s tiny, off grid house to finally arrive!
There is a hint of autumn in the crisp, cool nights, but the days have
been gloriously sunny and hot. The faint smell of apples in the orchard
has begun! We are preparing our stations: the newly installed sinks,
the apple press for cider, and the crocks for our delicious apple
butter. Here we go!
When I spoke about transitions in the last newsletter, I didn’t realize
it would include this: Jan is moving, and the land across the street
from Echo Valley is going up for sale. We would really enjoy having
friends living nearby, and there are numerous perks to the land, so if
you are interested or know someone who might be, give us a call at
Late October we will be dismantling the drying shed and rebuilding it
at Echo Valley. Handy with a hammer? We could use some help. Our good
friend Andy McClain will be leading this construction project. We will
also be converting the Johnny Cake Room to a commercial kitchen so that
we can continue providing you with excellent teas and more. Tulsi will
be our leading tea as we move to online sales over the next couple of

nettles, and perilla teas and our wonderful salves made with herbs from
